In order to get to Cóndores lagoon (2,700 m.a.s.l.), it is necessary to travel 39 km south of Leymebamba. The lagoon has outcrops with six mausoleums from Chachapoyas culture; 216 mommies were found here. During this expedition, we will be able to observe the impressive ecological zones that go from Leymebamba, at 2000 m.a.s.l. to 3,650 m.a.s.l. in la Atalaya. Then, we will arrive at the Lagoon with a black bottom, which is formed by special algae in the area, and it is surrounded by typical fauna and flora of Peruvian Yungas. Furthermore, it is the habitat of the Yellow-scarfed Tanager and the yellow tailed monkey, endemic species seen in the area. Along the way and in specific places we might be lucky to see the spectacled bear walk by. This place is part of an important wetland, so all year round the climate is quite cloudy and the road is muddy, which makes it difficult to cross.
